Annual Y 5K/10K Races

5K races are a great opportunity to get some exercise while supporting a great cause. Participants will enjoy a serene run through Firestone Park, a Caribbean-style race through Green, a 30-acre run in Nordonia Hills or a spooky Jack-O-Lantern Jog through historical downtown Akron.

Proceeds for each 5K will Benefit the Partners With Youth Annual Giving Campaign.
 
 
 
 

Akron Marathon Training 101 - Register Here

The Akron Area YMCA has partnered with the Akron Marathon to offer the Akron Marathon Training 101 program. The goal is to offer support to those running in the 10th annual Akron Marathon.

Throughout the training program both veteran and new runners will have the chance to attend workshops that will educate them on proper shoe fitting, nutrition, and injury prevention. These workshops will provide the knowledge needed to enhance the training and racing experience.
Pre- and post-training fitness assessments will show the impact of this health and fitness experience.    
 
In addition, there will be training runs supported by the Akron Marathon and one key race to help in preparation for running 26.2 miles along the blue line.

Track Your Training Results

  • Go to: www.running-log.com to begin.
  • Click on the orange tab labeled: “create a log”. 
  • Fill out the requested information.
  • Click the button allowing your log to be public so your coaches and wellness directors can review your workouts and provide motivation along the way.
  • Click sign up, and check your e-mail account for further instructions.
  • You will be given a link in the e-mail: copy and paste this into your browser.  You should then have full access to the website.
  • Click on “my log” to begin tracking your workouts.
  • To add a new work out: click on the green plus sign, enter your information and click “save”
  • You are able to edit your work outs after you have saved it.
  • Logs are not limited to running…feel free to track cross training, strength training, shoes, music, nutrition, ect.
