Akron Beacon Journal Features Future Fitness Club at Green Family YMCA

Dr. Troy Smurawa, a sports medicine physician at Akron Children's Hospital, says his dream is coming true. Kids are improving their fitness with the Future Fitness Club and PE programs at the Green Family YMCA, Riverfront YMCA, Canal Square YMCA and the Voris Community Learning Center.

Jackson Teens Saddle Up

Jackson Teens Saddle Up for Camp Y-Noah

Camp Y-Noah's Teen Saddle Club members made a trip to Big Dee's Tack Shop to round up supplies needed by the horses and stables. The teens sponsored several fundraising events earlier in the year to raise the money.

Riverfront 10th Re-Grand Opening

Celebrates Anniversary

Jill Kolesar and the staff and volunteers of the RFY celebrated the 10th anniversary of the re-opening of the Riverfront YMCA. Hundreds of people came to hear live music, eat food, play games and generally have a great time right outside the Meadows Family Activity Center overlooking Broad Blvd. The YMCA added 27,000 square feet of program space. This YMCA has been serving the children and families of Cuyahoga Falls and surrounding communities since 1948.


Canal Square Golf Outing Scores Hole-In-One for Partners With Youth!

The Akron Handball Club held its annual golf outing at the Maplecrest Golf Course and had enough teams (18) for a shotgun start!  It was a great day for golf, and an even greater day for the YMCA's Partners With Youth Campaign.  This event will help Canal Square raise about $80,000 this year for its annual fundraising campaign.  As a part of our goal to build strong kids, strong families, strong communities, this event supports the YMCA in its efforts to make programs and membership available to all.  Financial Assistance may be available to those who qualify. 



Day Camp Kickball Competition

The Canal Square YMCA tied the Firestone Park YMCA in their first annual Day Camp Kickball Competition!  Congratulations to both Day Camps as it was a hard fought draw!

Day of Action at Canal Square

The Canal Square YMCA took part in the United Way's annual Day of Action.  In coordination with the Salvation Army, JumpStart sent 7 volunteers to help Canal Square deep clean the 2nd floor locker rooms and pool deck.  In addition to that, the volunteers also prepared and served lunch to 55 kids in our Day Camp.  A special thanks to JumpStart for helping us with this project!

Canal Square Overnighter is Success!

The Canal Square YMCA hosted its annual overnighter and was filled to capacity at 50 kids!  Ages ranging from 5-12 years old participated in fun activities, swimming, and enjoyed fellowship during the lock-in.  A big thanks to the Canal Square Program Directors for organizing a great evening of fun!

Friday @ 5 Auction Results

Our Friday@5 Oral & Silent Auction was a big success.  Our event took place at Portage Country Club and raised a net profit of $36,408!  These profits go directly toward our Partners With Youth Annual Giving Campaign.  If you did not get a chance to participate in thie year's auction, you can still donate to our Canal Square Partners With Youth Campaign by clicking here.

Among the attendees were many former campers and camp staff who enjoyed sharing their favorite camp stories and experiences.
